VirtualLifeBrasil Terms of Use and Rules
Version 2.0 — effective June 20, 2026. This English text is a courtesy translation; the Portuguese version is the binding one.
These Terms govern access to VirtualLifeBrasil (VLB), including the OpenSimulator grid, websites, official viewer, the VL$ virtual currency, rentals, purchases and other related features. By creating an account, accessing or using any of these services, the user declares that they have read and agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. Anyone who does not agree should not create an account or use the services.
1. Eligibility and minimum age
- VLB is intended exclusively for people aged 18 or over.
- It is forbidden to give a false age, to let minors use the account, or to use avatars and content involving minors in a sexual, exploitative or illegal context.
- The administration may request reasonable age verification and suspend the account as a precaution while there is well-founded doubt.
2. Account, password and avatar identity
- The user must provide truthful information, keep a valid e-mail address and protect their password.
- The account is personal. The holder is responsible for activity on it until they report any compromise through the official channels.
- It is forbidden to use a name, appearance or communication to impersonate the administration, support staff, another user or a third party.
- Alternate accounts used for fraud, evading sanctions, manipulating promotions or abuse may be linked for security and moderation purposes.
3. Conduct and community life
- Harassment, stalking, threats, extortion, discrimination, malicious disclosure of personal data, fraud or encouraging illegal acts are not allowed.
- Users must respect the additional rules set by those responsible for regions and events, as long as they do not contradict these Terms or the law.
- Personal conflicts do not justify attacks, intrusions, exposure of data or technical sabotage.
4. Prohibited content and security
- It is forbidden to publish, store, offer or distribute content that is illegal, fraudulent, malicious or that infringes the rights of others.
- It is forbidden to exploit flaws, attempt unauthorized access, bypass controls, carry out attacks, cause excessive load or use scripts, objects, bots, viewers or tools for malicious purposes.
- CopyBot and equivalent mechanisms are also forbidden when used to copy, export or distribute content without authorization.
- Security testing may only take place with the prior and express authorization of the administration.
5. User content and operating license
- Creators keep the rights they hold over the content they upload to VLB and declare that they are authorized to use it.
- The user grants VLB a limited, non-exclusive license, for as long as necessary, to host, store, technically reproduce, transmit, display, back up and process that content solely to operate, protect and provide the services.
- This operating license does not transfer authorship or allow VLB to sell the user's creation outside the purposes of the service.
- Users are responsible for keeping their own copies of important content. VLB's backup features are not an individual permanent archiving service.
6. Copy, Modify and Transfer permissions in OpenSimulator
- The OpenSimulator permission system lets creators set technical controls for copying, modifying and transferring.
- These controls must be respected, but they are not absolute proof of authorship or license. A permissive setting does not authorize use that infringes the copyright, trademark, contract or authorization of the true rights holder.
- Importing, exporting, reselling, distributing and creating derivative works may only happen when the user holds the rights or a valid license.
7. Copyright, trademarks and infringement reports
VLB respects intellectual property and may investigate, restrict access to or remove content when it receives a well-founded report. Notices made under Brazilian law or, where applicable, in a DMCA-compatible format will be reviewed in good faith.
Whenever possible, a report should include:
- identification and contact details of the rights holder or authorized representative;
- a description of the work, trademark or right allegedly infringed;
- the exact location of the content in VLB, such as region, coordinates, object name, shop, avatar or URL;
- an explanation of the infringement and documents or references showing ownership;
- a statement of good faith and of the accuracy of the information.
The person responsible for the content may submit clarifications or a counter-notice. Deliberately false, incomplete or abusive reports may be rejected and lead to appropriate measures. Proven repeat infringement may result in suspension or closure of the account.
8. Hypergrid and third-party services
- When using the Hypergrid, the user requests communication with independent grids, which have their own administration, terms, security and policies.
- Minimal technical data, such as the avatar's name and UUID, home address, session information, the inventory needed for travel and IP address, may be transmitted to make the connection possible.
- VLB does not control the content, availability, data handling or conduct of external grids, websites, gateways and services.
- Users should assess the risks before traveling, handing over objects, entering credentials or making transactions outside VLB.
9. VL$, payments and virtual goods
- VL$ is a virtual credit for internal use in the VLB ecosystem; it is not official currency, a bank deposit, an investment or a promise of returns.
- Unless there is an explicit official mechanism, VL$ has no guaranteed conversion into money and must not be traded through unauthorized channels.
- Payments by PIX, PayPal or other means depend on confirmation by the respective provider. Duplicate, fraudulent, disputed or mistakenly credited transactions may be blocked, corrected or reversed after review.
- Purchases, rentals and virtual goods may have specific conditions shown before purchase. Mandatory rights under consumer law remain preserved.
- Users should report balance or payment discrepancies through the official channels, providing the details needed to check them.
10. Privacy and data protection
- The handling of personal data is described in the VLB Privacy Policy and follows, where applicable, the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD) and the Brazilian Civil Rights Framework for the Internet (Marco Civil da Internet).
- Users may request confirmation, access, correction, anonymization, blocking or deletion in the cases provided by law.
- Deleting the account does not mean the immediate deletion of records that must be kept for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, the exercise of rights or contractual obligations.
11. Moderation, investigation and sanctions
- VLB may preserve evidence, limit features, remove content, warn, suspend or close accounts to protect users, third-party rights, the integrity of the grid and compliance with these Terms.
- In urgent or serious situations, preventive measures may be taken without prior notice, with later review when appropriate.
- The administration may take into account context, severity, repetition, risk and the user's cooperation. The existence of an account or content in the system does not mean it is approved by VLB.
- Potentially criminal acts or valid orders may be reported to or complied with before the competent authorities, within legal limits.
12. Availability, maintenance and technical changes
- The service may undergo maintenance, downtime, network failures, software changes, restarts, loss of connectivity or events beyond VLB's reasonable control.
- VLB may modify, limit or discontinue features for technical, economic, legal or security reasons.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
13. Suspension and closure
- Users may stop using the service and request closure of their account through the official channels.
- VLB may suspend or close accounts for breach of these Terms, fraud, security risk, legal obligation or discontinuation of the service.
- Obligations related to payments, intellectual property, data protection, investigation, liability and legal preservation may continue after closure.
14. Changes to these Terms
- These Terms may be updated to reflect legal, operational or technical changes.
- The date and version will be shown on this page. Relevant changes may require new acceptance or be announced through the available channels.
- Continued use after an update takes effect counts as acceptance where the law allows; if the user does not agree, they should stop using the service and request closure of the account.
15. Applicable law, consumer rights and contact
- The laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil apply, without prejudice to mandatory rules applicable to the user.
- No clause of these Terms limits the inalienable rights of consumers or data subjects.
-
Questions, abuse reports, privacy requests and intellectual property notices should be sent through the
official VLB support page.
16. Acceptance
- By ticking the acceptance box and completing sign-up, the user declares that they have read and fully accepted these Terms.
- If any provision is found invalid, the others will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
VLB seeks to balance creative freedom, protection of creators, privacy, technical security and responsible community life. When in doubt, always use the official channels before acting.
